Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 draws on the functionality, and code changes of Windows XP's Service Pack 2, and includes many of the same enhancements. Included is an updated Internet Explorer to 6.0 SP2, and new Data Execution Prevention or DEP, that works to prevent Buffer Overflows. Service Pack 1 also delivered on all hotfixes issued to date for all 4 Windows Server 2003 Versions
Service Pack 1 for Windows Small Business Server 2003 was released at a later date. If you try and upgrade Windows SBS 2003 with the standard Service Pack 1, you will get errors when attempting to do so.
Service Pack 1 will also be included as standard in Windows Server 2003 R2.
