Development and History[]

Windows Server 2003 drew on the solid server architecture of the Windows 2000 codebase, and was initially known as the Whistler Server project. It essentually updated Windows 2000 Server, with all the code changes that came with Windows XP, as well as adding a whole new layer of Server and Security functionality
